All-Mail Elections

In all-mail elections, eligible registered voters automatically receive a ballot by mail. Local jurisdictions are authorized by law to exercise their statutory right to conduct elections entirely by mail.

CURRENT ALL-MAIL ELECTION: Glendale and Goodyear Jurisdictional Election - May 20, 2025

If you will be away from your home during this election, you can make a one-time ballot request.

This request will not alter your voter registration and can be used to send your ballot to anywhere you are in the United States.

The last day to make this request for this Jurisdictional Election is May 9, 2025.

Traditional Countywide Elections

For traditional countywide elections (Presidential Preference Elections, Primary Elections, and General Elections), only voters on the Active Early Voting List (AEVL) will automatically receive an early ballot.

If you are not affiliated with a political party, you can still participate in a Primary Election by requesting a partisan ballot. Doing so will not change your party registration or affiliate you with any political party.

If you will be away from your home during a traditional countywide elecction, you can make a one-time ballot request. This request will not alter your voter registration and can be used to send your ballot to anywhere you are in the United States. 

Overlapping Traditional & All-Mail Elections

There are currently two elections underway:

• May 20 Glendale and Goodyear Jurisdictional Election
• Special Primary and General Election for residents in Congressional District 7.

Voters can receive their ballot by mail utilizing one of two options:

OPTION 1
Join the Active Early Voting List (AEVL) - To have a ballot automatically mailed to you for every election in which you are eligible, a registered voter can sign up for the Active Early Voting List (AEVL). Voters on the AEVL must have an Arizona mailing address. Ballots are mailed to the voter 27 days prior to any election.

OPTION 2
Make a one-time ballot request for an election or election cycle, you can:

• Mail in a written request with your full name, residential address, date of birth and which election you are requesting a ballot for (i.e. Primary and/General Elections) to:

No. Arizona law does not allow official election materials, such as ballots, to be forwarded by the Post Office. If you would like to have your ballot mailed to a temporary mailing address, make your request by calling (602) 506-1511 or select “Make Your One-Time Ballot Request Here” on this webpage. If you are in the military or a military family member stationed out of the county, or you live overseas, please find out more information at MilitaryOverseas.Maricopa.Vote.

If you damaged your mail ballot, you may request a replacement ballot in the mail by calling (602) 506-1511 or by emailing [email protected] with the following information:

• Your full name
• Your current residential address
• Your date of birth
• The last four digits of your Social Security Number
• Your mailing address for this election (if this is different from your residential address)

We must receive this request no later than 11 days before the election. You may also request a replacement ballot by visiting any voting location found at Locations.Maricopa.Vote until 7 p.m. on Election Day.

The Elections Department checks the signature on your green affidavit envelope against all known signatures in your official voter registration file and past affidavit signatures. Our signature verification process has multi-level checks to ensure only valid signatures are counted. Make sure you provide your phone number on the green affidavit envelope. The Elections Department uses it to contact voters with questionable signatures. State law provides voters with questionable signatures three days after a local election to confirm their signature and five calendar days after a large, federal election. All ballot affidavit envelopes require a signature that is compared against a known signature on the official voter registration file when received. Maricopa County has internal controls and tracking methods for ballot security beginning from when the ballot is initially mailed, to how voted ballots are transported from the post office to onsite security and more. Maricopa County performs multiple audit checks before and after ballots are tabulated. Only verified ballots are counted. All uncounted ballots and the reason are included in the official canvass. Maricopa County voters who need to update their voter registration because they have moved, need to update their name, or would like to change their political party affiliation have the following options to update their voter registration:

1. You can update your registration online ONLY if you have an Arizona Driver's License or State ID. Enter in your name as it matches your Driver's License or State ID. 

2. You can print a voter registration form and return the completed, dated, and signed form by mail or drop it off.

Drop it off: You can use our 24-hour secure elections drop box outside the Elections Department at 510 S. 3rd Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85003. It’s located in the parking lot on the southwest corner of Lincoln and 3rd Avenue.

3. You can request a voter registration form to be mailed to you with a return envelope. Use our Contact Us page in order to request a form.

4. You can update your registration in-person at a voting location. If you are already registered to vote, and you update your voter registration at a voting location, you may still receive a full ballot. 

In Maricopa County, if a voter has been detained but not sentenced, they can still vote. Voting instructions in a Federal Election will be shared via MCSO on inmate’s tablets and/or posted in common areas. Detainees can obtain both Voter Registration and Ballot Request forms from Inmate Legal Services, along with a prepaid envelope to submit their request. The ballot will be mailed to the jail for them to vote. If they have questions they can call collect to our Special Election Board for assistance.
