March PPE Informational Mailer Sent to Voters

February 02, 2024

PHOENIX -- The March 19, 2024 Presidential Preference Election (PPE) is less than two months away and we want to make sure voters have all the information they'll need.

In the coming days, registered voters will begin receiving a mailer to remind them of the upcoming election. The flyer also explains who is eligible to participate in the election and other key information and dates.

"The PPE is almost here and our office is here to help voters get all the facts," Recorder Stephen Richer said. "This mailer reminds voters that only registered Democrats and Republicans are eligible to participate, along with information about how to check their voter registration, and find helpful resources. Check your mailbox!"

These mailers, written in both English and Spanish, encourage voters to check their voter registration at BeBallotReady.Vote.

Below is an example of the mailer that voters will receive:

What is the PPE?

Arizona first established what was then known as the "Presidential Preference Primary Election" in 1992. It was later amended in 1995 to be referred to as the "Presidential Preference Election." This election is designed to give voters within the participating parties the opportunity to express their preference for the presidential candidate that will represent their party in the November General Election.

Who are the 'Participating Parties?'

The recently mailed flyer reminds voters that in this upcoming PPE only registered Democrats and Republicans are eligible to participate. That means those registered with the Libertarian Party, No Labels Party, Green Party or another Party Not Designated cannot cast a ballot. This is dictated by state law under ARS 16-241.

Can I Change My Party to Participate?

Yes, voters are able to update or change their voter registration at any time through BeBallotReady.Vote. As noted on the mailer, in order to be eligible to participate in this upcoming election, voters must update their registration by February 20.
