Board of Supervisors Canvasses Maricopa County 2024 Primary Election Results

Today the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors canvassed the results for the 2024 Primary Election in Maricopa County, certifying the results are accurate and providing a full accounting of all the ballots cast in the election.
More than 2.4 million voters were eligible to vote in this primary election. Final election results included 739,564 ballots, which represented 30.57 percent of eligible voters.
Voting early continues to be the preferred method to cast a ballot in Maricopa County with 664,672 voters casting their ballots by mailing it in, dropping it off at a drop box or vote center, or voting early in-person at a Vote Center.
On Election Day 74,892 ballots were cast. This number includes provisional ballots that were tabulated.
Ballots Cast:
- Republican Party: 434,041*
- Democratic Party: 298,105*
- Libertarian Party: 1,591
- No Labels Party: 866
- Green Party: 356
- Nonpartisan: 4605*
*Independent voters that voted a party or nonpartisan ballot are included those numbers.
Other Election Facts:
- Maricopa County Elections offered 222 Vote Centers to serve voters throughout the county
- More than 2,500 bipartisan members of the community were hired and trained to administer the Primary Election
- 1,125 military and overseas voters participated under the Uniformed or Overseas Citizens and Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA)
- 188 Large-Print Ballots were cast
- 17 individuals voted by Braille Ballot
Automatic Recount:
A recount must be performed following a general, primary, special, or recall election if the margin of votes, based on the official canvass, between the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes for a particular office, or the votes cast for and against a ballot measure, are equal to 1/2 of 1% or less of the total number of votes cast for the top two candidates or the ballot measure in question. A.R.S. § 16-661(A).
It is expected, that as the filing officer for Congressional District 3, the Arizona Secretary of State will petition a court to order a recount. Upon canvassing of statewide results by the Arizona Secretary of State, a recount can begin in Maricopa County. Results are not released at any time during the recount and provided to the Judge under seal after the completion of the recount. The results are then read aloud in court.
